Life is filled with taboos- those hushed topics or situations imposed by family or friends. Whether its facing uncomfortable behaviors or personal challenges like mental health issue, we tend to carry on pretending like nothing has happened. But there comes a day when these unspoken issues hit us. What do we do then? We've been taught to hush up and move on, dealing with problems on our own so people does not get to know. So we follow these lessons until the damage is done, and there's no turning back. Do our family, neighbors or the so called aunts and uncles step in to help? Its a no. We are left alone to handle the aftermath. Its unclear to me to whether blame the older generation, society or the parenting. While everyone prioritize their matters within family, weren't children one of them? Why wasn't teaching children navigate life's challenges one of the priority? It seems to me now, that back in the days, children were treated as puppets so parents could show

Hormones and happiness: When we talk about science of happiness, its all about understanding our brain playing its role in our well being. Often referred to as the "feel good" hormone Mr. Dopamine is a key player in making us happy. Things like exercise, balanced diet, social connections, mindfulness, gratitude practices cater much to the release of these hormones including serotonin, endorphins making us feel good, contributing to our good health. Being grateful isn't that simple as it sounds. In this age of social media, we often come across the message of practicing gratitude, showing appreciation to others and being thankful for our lives. While its undeniably important to be grateful, its more easier said than done. Inspired by the wisdom of many books, I have come to realize that gratitude can be cultivated in our life in small, deliberate steps. #1 Make Gratitude a Daily Habit Gratitude should become an integral part of our daily routine. It can be as simple as: Starting your day with a grateful prayer. Smiling at yourself in the mirror, as you brush or get dressed, expressing thanks to the wonderful day ahead. Taking a walk, appreciating the beautiful nature that provides you fresh air.
